The Integrated Ranch Management (IRM) Program at the Vernon Center is focused on developing technology and expertise for the total ranch from understanding basic biological and ecological processes to production-scale economics.

The overall mission is to:

  • Develop Integrated Ranch Management (IRM) systems designed for multiple use.

  • Determine the effect of ranch management decisions on profitability and the environment.

Integrated Ranch Management Includes:

Experiments are supported by neighboring ranches as well as other private and government supported grants.  Results are published in traditional scientific journals and appropriate trade publications.  Important two-way interactions occur at rancher meetings and field days.  We have numerous and diverse studies in seven project areas including Alternative Forages, Brush Management, Range Ecology, Range Nutrition, Wildlife Ecology, Rangeland Entomology and Rangeland Economics.  To learn more details about these project areas please use hot keys on the side menu.
