VINTAGE AIRCRAFT |
|
I used to build model airplanes as a kid (a lost art indeed!). I've tried to keep this up in recent years building historically accurate replicas of WWI and WW2 planes and then trying to photograph them so it looks like a 'realistic' setting. These planes are 1/72 scale with actual fuselage lengths of 4 to 5 inches. |

The Fokker Dr.1 triplane |
The Fokker Dr.1 Triplane. German Fighter mainly in 1917 before being replaced by the Fokker D-VII. This plane has the markings of ace Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron. Richthofen used this plane (serial number 152/17) between his Albatros D-III and his all red Triplane. This version had the upper wing, tail and cowl painted red but the rest of the upper surfaces were still in the factory printed olive green streak pattern. |
