District 3 is located in the Rolling Plains region of Texas. The Rolling Plains land resource area encompasses more than 24 million acres in north-central Texas. Almost 70% of the region is native range land, but income is equally split between crops and livestock.

- agricultural diversification

- water quality and conservation.

Beef and forage production is a mainstay in District 3. Combined, the two represent $59.7 million of income to D3 producers. Production ranges from the large range based operations in the west and central areas of the district, to smaller more intense operations to the east.
Crop Production
Crop production, mainly cotton and wheat, make up $17.7 million of income to the D3 agriculture producers. The majority of the production is dryland, but D3 also supports some irrigated production where water is available for this purpose.
Wildlife and Hunting
With the vast grasslands available, wildlife and hunting thrive in D3. Hunting provides a significant income source to the district with an annual income of $5.1 million.
